A Set of 7 Original Vintage Double-Sided Cartoon Place Mats (each measures 11 1/2" x 17") (Learn More)

Merrie Melodies Rhyme-A-Day, the circa 1940s place mat set featuring art of Looney Tunes cartoon characters such as Daffy Duck, Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig and more. Each place mat has a different poem associated with a day of the week and a song (with music notes) on the back. Note that we don't know for certain that these are place mats. They are printed on a really heavy stock with rounded edges. It seems that if kids were to eat on them, they would quickly destroy them, but maybe they were considered disposable. I am not sure what else they might have been created for, but they are really cool! The images of the characters are clearly from the 1940s versions, and look like the early 1940s. If anyone knows more about these place mats, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.

Condition: very good. The mats appear to have darkened (but we have never seen another one to compare them to) and they have some minor border wear. The one with Bugs milking the cow has many scuffs scattered throughout, and the one with Bugs washing has a couple of scuffs in the middle right and some scratches in the middle of the left border. Otherwise, the mats are in pretty nice condition, and they have never had any sort of restoration!
