Date Sold 9/27/2009Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures approximately 3" x 4") (Learn More) Tugboat Annie, the 1933 Mervyn LeRoy nautical seafaring sailor romantic comedy ("America's Sweethearts Together Again!"; "Based on the Saturday Evening Post stories by Norman Reilly Raine") starring Marie Dressler (in the title role as Tugboat Annie), Wallace Beery, Robert Young, Maureen O'Sullivan, and Willard Robertson. Note that this movie was a big hit. MGM would have surely made a sequel, but Dressler passed away the following year. In 1940, they tried to revive the series with the sequel, "Tugboat Annie Sails Again", seven years later, with Marjorie Rambeau taking over the lead role. It likely was not very successful, because there were no more sequels with her, and it was not until 1945 that MGM tried yet again, this time with Jane Darwell in the lead role in "Captain Tugboat Annie". There were no more sequels! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: The slide does not have a cardboard holder, but rather there is black tape around all four edges (front and back), typical of older glass slides. When we auction slides that have a cardboard holder, we provide a separate image of how the cardboard holder looks, but when we auction slides with the black tape (like this one) we only provide the scan of the glass slide image, because that really is about all there is to see. Condition: very good to fine. Learn More about condition grades
