An Original Undated (probably 1946 and likely the first English release) Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked British Quad Movie Poster (measures approximately 30" x 40") (Learn More)

The Wizard of Oz, the classic 1939 Victor Fleming family magical fantasy adventure musical ("MGM's miracle musical show of shows!"; "It's Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's Technicolor triumph!"; "Magnificent in its brilliant Technicolor splendor!"; "At Last It's Here Biggest Sensation Since "Snow White"!"; "The mighty miracle show that is the talk of America!"; "Amazing sights to see! The Tornado, Munchkinland, Horse of a Different Color, Startling Balloon Ascent, The Flying Monkeys, The Tree That Throws Apples"; "Gaiety! Glory! Glamour!"; based on the classic book of the same name by L. Frank Baum; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Judy Garland (as Dorothy), Frank Morgan (in the title role as The Wizard of Oz!), Ray Bolger (as The Scarecrow), Bert Lahr (as The Cowardly Lion), Jack Haley (as The Tin Man), Billie Burke (as Glinda, the Good Witch), Margaret Hamilton (as the Wicked Witch), Charley Grapewin, "The Munchkins", and Toto too!

Important Added Info: Note that this British quad is undated, but we have done research on it, and we believe that it dates from 1946, and that this is the time of the very first release of "The Wizard of Oz" in England. It seems likely that World War II prevented the movie from being released prior to that time. Note that we are selling an English pressbook we believe is from 1946 (it has several mentions of paper rationing), and the British quad pictured in that pressbook appears to exactly match this poster (we have also seen a 1950s British quad which is quite different from this poster, and clearly from a later release). We have not seen this quad offered before. If anyone can show us evidence that this movie DID play in England prior to 1946, or that this quad is from a different year, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

Condition: very good to fine. The poster had creases and a few extremely tiny areas of paper loss in the vertical foldline. There was separation and the most minor of creases on the other foldlines. There were some creases and tiny tears around the edges of the poster. Overall, the poster was in very good to fine condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was well backed, and looks great!
