(Learn More) Silver Wings, the 1922 Edwin Carewe & John Ford (billed as "Jack Ford"; he only directed the prologue) silent family relationship inheritance embezzlement melodrama ("Mary Carr scores again!"; "Direct from 3 months run Apollo Theatre, New York"; a complicated story of a wife of an inventor who becomes rich, but after he dies, his wife must run his business, and she has the oldest of her six adult children help her, and one of them steals money from the business, and the other is blamed, and the mother sells everything she has to cover her son's debt) starring Mary Carr, Lynn Hammond, Knox Kincaid, Maybeth Carr, and Joseph Monahan. Note that the movie opens with a prologue showing the family when the children are young, and director John Ford directed this prologue, and two of Mary Carr's real life children played roles in this prologue! Note that Mary Carr became a major star in the mid 1910s around the age of 40, playing the parts of saintly mothers. She continued to make movies (switching to grandmother roles) through the mid 1930s, and then continued with mostly uncredited parts until the mid 1950s. She passed away in 1973 at the age of 99! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that pressbooks were prepared prior to a movie being released. Often, changes would be made in a movie advertising campaign (billing of actors, different images, etc.), and the theaters would print up special supplements that they would send out with the pressbooks that had already been printed. These supplements are very rare, far more rare than the pressbooks themselves! Some pressbooks would have no supplements, some would have one, and some would have several. Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook, and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners received pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Condition: very good, NO CUTS. The pressbook is complete and uncut. It was folded across the middle. There is separation, tiny tears, and tiny bits of paper loss down the spine, with many scuffs on the covers. The interior pages are in nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
