An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More)

Omar the Tentmaker, the 1922 James Young silent Persia Middle Eastern romantic love triangle melodrama ("A Persian love romance by Richard Walton Tully author of 'The Bird of Paradise'"; "Awake, for morning in the bowl of night has flung the stone that puts the stars to flight: Drives night along with them from heav'n and strikes the Sultan's temple with a shaft of light"; "Adapted by Richard Walton Tully from the stage success of the same name"; a complicated story of a student who loves a beautiful young woman, but she is taken by the "Shah of Shahs" to be one of his many wives, and she is pregnant from the student, and the Shah throws her out when she rejects him and sells her as a slave, but she gets the student to raise their baby, although he thinks the Shah is the father, and many years later, the student, now a tentmaker, is able to finally right some of the wrongs that were done) starring Guy Bates Post (in the title role as "Omar the Tentmaker"), Virginia Brown Faire, Nigel De Brulier, Noah Beery Sr. (as The Shah of Shahs), Rose Dione, and Boris Karloff. Note that Boris Karloff had a very minor role in this movie (as Imam Mowaffak), and we don't think he appears on any advertising, although he could possibly appear on a still or lobby card! Also, note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist.

Artist: G.W. Peters
Important Added Info: Note that first release 1927 movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only auctioned a single lobby card from this movie (but no posters) until we received this window card in 2018. The buyer of that card has now reconsigned it to us, so it is still the only example of this window card we have ever auctioned! Also note that this window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded.

Condition: good to very good. There is some light staining around the edges and a tear in the top play dates area, with a pinhole in the "O" of "OMAR". Overall, however, the card has survived in pretty nice condition (see our image).
