An Original Vintage Studio Booklet (measures 4 1/4" x 4 3/4" [11 x 12 cm]) (Learn More)

MGM 1940-41 ("Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's Screen Forecast"; "Tips on coming screen hits"; "Spring and Summer edition"; "$350 prize contest - inside"), the 1940 12-page booklet distributed to theater owners. This one is the one from 1940-41, and it contains 12 pages with information and illustrations about their upcoming movies and stars, including New Moon, Pride and Prejudice, and Susan and God. MGM alone among all the studios made these small booklets, called "Screen Forecast"!
Important Added Info: Somewhere around 1932, it seems that MGM completely stopped making large size campaign books (studio yearbooks), and only made small booklets, called "Screen Forecast". While it is possible that they still did make large campaign books for each year, but if so, they are incredibly rare, because they never come up for sale. In 1940, MGM launched The Lion's Roar, a deluxe magazine which clearly took the place of campaign books. Starting in the mid 1920s, MGM created large studio yearbooks that were deluxe publications sent to theater owners (to try to get them to book their upcoming movies), but they also (alone among the studios) also created small booklets (with "The Screen Forecast" on the cover). We know that the small booklets began in 1926 or earlier, and continued through 1941-42 or later, but we don't know if they were made every single year in between those years, because they are extremely rare. Each measured around 3 3/4" x 4 1/4", and contained around 32 pages, and they are incredibly rare (about as rare as the larger versions!). If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
