Date Sold 2/19/2019Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Promotional Movie Brochure (measures 10 1/2" x 15 1/2" [27 x 39 cm]; 6 pages) (Learn More) Edgar Rice Burroughs' Tarzan and the Huntress, the 1947 Kurt Neumann action jungle adventure fantasy thriller ("Animal hordes scream vengeance against invading humans!"; "Based upon the Characters Created by Edgar Rice Burroughs"; "Original Story and Screenplay by Jerry Gruskin and Rowland Leigh") starring Johnny Weissmuller (in the title role as Tarzan), Brenda Joyce (as Jane), Johnny Sheffield (as "Boy"), Patricia Morison, and Barton MacLane. Note that Maureen O'Sullivan tired of playing Jane in the Tarzan movies, and in 1943, two Tarzan movies were made with no Jane at all, and in 1945, she was replaced by Brenda Joyce, who played the role in five movies. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this promo brochure folds out to form a cool full-color 21" x 62" poster (see our image). Since this is the size of a door panel, we are certain that many theaters who received this brochure used it in that way. We know there is at least one surviving example in the hobby where someone took the color poster and had it linenbacked, and sold it AS a "door panel", but we have only auctioned this brochure/door panel once before, and that one, which was in "good to very good" condition, auctioned for $775! We have taken pictures of the brochure as it was intended to be viewed, first fully folded, and then unfolded each time, and then finally the other side, which is the full-color door panel image. Condition: fair. There is a long diagonal tear in the bottom left of the poster that extends through Weissmuller's foot and through the center of the bottom text, with paper loss in the bottom of the "W". There are also some other separations and tears, and also pinholes, tears, and paper loss around the edges, with a few stains. Obviously, this poster can be "rescued" by a talented restorer, but bear in mind its many defects and the cost of restoration before bidding on it. Learn More about condition grades
