Balderston from the play by Peggy Webling"; the first of the Universal "Frankenstein" movies, and regarded as one of the finer movies of any genre, in large part due to the marvelous acting of Boris Karloff, and the marvelous direction of James Whale!) starring Colin Clive (as Dr. Herbert V. Frankenstein), Boris Karloff (as the Frankenstein monster), Edward Van Sloan, Fredric Kerr, Mae Clarke, Dwight Frye (extremely memorable as Fritz), and John Boles NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Condition: good to very good. The lobby card was linenbacked, likely many years ago. The reason the card was linenbacked was because there was paper loss in the bottom left corner. It is approximately 1 1/2" x 1 1/2". It includes the corner of the image background, and there was a 1" tear extending from that missing area above the quote marks at the start of the title. There were tears, pinholes, creases, and smudges around the edges of the card. The person who linenbacked the card did a pretty nice job matching the missing image background at lower left, but they touched up the borders of the card with a white paint that is a different shade than the original creamy color of the borders, so you can see the restoration in the borders. The image area of the card has had next-to-no restoration of any kind, except right at the edges. I would think most collectors would be very happy to display this great card just as it is, but if the coloration difference of the borders bothered the new owner, any talented restorer could do additional border restoration without re-backing the card.
