Date Sold 10/3/2021Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. a lot of 3 Billie Ritchie English postcards. Billy Ritchie was an actor from 1914 to 1920. He did not make his first movie until 1914 (the same year that Charlie Chaplin started), but he performed in music halls in England in a tramp suit prior to that, and though he spent much of his career as a "Charlie Chaplin imitator", he always claimed that Chaplin had stolen the idea from his earlier performances! He passed away in 1921 at the age of 42. Note that the items in this lot are from 1915 (two of them are dated). The third one, which has the "COME AND SEE ME" at the top, appears to actually be a photo of the real Chaplin, but our consignor apparently thinks that Ritchie used this image to promote HIS act! We do not provide a list of these items, but there are images of the front and back of all of them. Measurements: 3 1/2" x 5 1/2"Condition: good to very good.
