Burnett"; about a "perfect robbery" with a team of top professionals, but of course, everything unravels, partially through double-crosses; perhaps the best movie of its kind!) starring Sterling Hayden, Louis Calhern, Jean Hagen, James Whitmore, Sam Jaffe (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), John McIntire, Marilyn Monroe, Marc Lawrence, Barry Kelley, Anthony Caruso, Teresa Celli, Brad Dexter, Don Haggerty, and Daniel Clarke NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this a very rare complete set of 1954 re-release lobby cards for this movie (we have never auctioned a complete set of re-release cards for this title in all of our years of auctioning!) Note also that when this classic movie was first released in 1950, Marilyn Monroe was virtually unknown and so she received very low billing (but she WAS prominently pictured on the six-sheet, because she was sexy!). But when she shot to stardom, MGM re-released the movie with a new ad campaign featuring Monroe, with the tagline, "And this is the picture that first brought fame to MARILYN MONROE". In the re-release lobby cards, they used an image of Marilyn close up with Louis Calhern, which was very similar to a card in the original set, but a different pose! Condition: good to very good. Each of the cards has some disco on the outer edge of the lower left blank border only. The title card has some additional discoloration in the upper right blank border edge and a few faint smudges around the edges. Card #2 has some spotty slight discoloration at lower center and a few smudges within the title. It is otherwise in pretty nice condition. Cards #3 and #4 have some similar smudges in the title area. Cards #5 and #6 have a few faint smudges around the edges, Card #7 has a partial vertical crease at center as well as card #8 (which slightly affects the image of Monroe's red dress and chest). Overall, the rare many of the slight defects in the rare complete set affect the edges of the cards and otherwise they are in pretty nice condition and they have no tape whatsoever on the front or back, and they never have had any restoration of any kind!
