An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More)

The Killing of Dillinger, the 1934 true-life FBI police crime outlaw newsreel ("Colossal screen scoop of the year"; "Public Enemy No. 1 in Chicago"; "Actual authentic pictures! With full length details of the death trap at Biograph Theatre. Dillinger runs down alley follow by a spray of lead. It shows ambulance that hauled him away."; "Dillinger's body on a cold slab in undertaker's morgue."; "See the wipe out of America's fiercest gang leader."; "All talking pictures"; "True - Facts - History"; "The Jesse James of today") featuring John Dillinger. Note that we have auctioned a poor condition one-sheet from this movie alone, and a herald from a double bill of this movie with "Trails of Danger", and those are the only two items we have ever auctioned from this movie.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we can't be certain that this poster is advertising a newsreel that was created after John Dillinger's death. It COULD be advertising the 1934 film Dillinger: Public Enemy No. 1, the 1934 newsreel style crime documentary short. However, this poster does not have that title on it, and it certainly seems reasonable that there would have been newsreels created after Dillinger's death, in addition to the above movie short. Either way, this is a fascinating poster, and while it is in poor condition, it certainly could be "rescued" through restoration, because all of the words are readable and can be restored. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

Condition: poor. The poster is incredibly fragile and has significant paper loss (see our image). However, it is very fortunate that the missing parts letters can be read and re-created during the restoration process. Do not bid on this poster unless you can accept its major defects and are willing to have it properly restored.
