An Original Vintage Pressbook (pb; measures 11" x 17" [28 x 43 cm]; 6 pages) (Learn More) the 1952 double-bill release of ("Here's double-Bogart-dynamite! This years Academy Award winner for 'Best Actor' in 2 of his top excitement roles!") Ernest Hemingway's To Have and Have Not, the classic 1944 Howard Hawks World War II (WWII) romantic suspense melodrama ("Humphrey Bogart... with his kind of woman in a powerful adaptation of Ernest Hemingway's most daring man-woman story!"; very loosely adapted from the classic Ernest Hemingway story, "Screen Play by Jules Furthman and William Faulkner"; this was the movie where middle-aged Humphrey Bogart met teen-aged Lauren Bacall, and won her romantically, both on and off the screen; "If you want anything mister, ...just whistle!") starring Humphrey Bogart, Walter Brennan, Lauren Bacall, Dolores Moran, and Hoagy Carmichael. Note that Lauren Bacall had many talents, but singing was apparently not one of them, and her singing in this movie was dubbed by Andy Williams (likely because she had a low speaking voice!). AND High Sierra, the classic 1941 Raoul Walsh crime film noir ("HE KILLED, and there on the edge of the crest of Sierra's highest crag... HE MUST BE KILLED!"; "Blazing Mountain Man-Hunt for Killer 'Mad-Dog' Earle!"; "Towering thrills with this year's academy award star!"; "The blazing mountain man-hunt for killer 'Mad Dog' Earle!"; "'This is the most exciting story I know!' - says ace story-teller and columnist Mark Hellinger"; from a novel by W.R. Burnett) starring Ida Lupino, Humphrey Bogart (in one of his best roles, and the movie that helped elevate him from second-tier status to first-rate star!), Alan Curtis, Arthur Kennedy, Joan Leslie, Henry Hull, and Henry Travers NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook (if the back cover is not the poster page, we photographed the interior poster page), and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners received pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Condition: fair to good, NO CUTS. The pressbook is complete and uncut. It was folded across the middle. There is water staining on the covers that affects the interior pages.
