An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Alfred Hitchcock's Spellbound, the 1945 Alfred Hitchcock (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) amnesia romantic psychological suspense thriller ("This is love!"; "Complete... Reckless... Violent!"; "Forever ...Irresistibly Spellbound!"; "Irresistible their love! Inescapable their fears!"; "The Maddest Love that ever possessed a woman"; "These two together to hold you"; "Screenplay by Ben Hecht"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; a strange story of an amnesiac in a hospital who is discovered to be posing as a doctor, but when the doctor is found dead, a female psychiatrist, who has fallen in love with him, tries to find out who he really is and who really killed the doctor; the surreal dream sequences in this movie were designed by Salvador Dali!) starring Ingrid Bergman (billed as "Ingrid Bergman's First Picture since winning the Academy Award"; as a psychiatrist!), Gregory Peck, Michael Chekhov (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), Leo G. Carroll, Donald Curtis, Rhonda Fleming (in her first real role, as a nymphomaniac!), Norman Lloyd, John Emery, Regis Toomey, Addison Richards, and Art Baker. Note that Rhonda Fleming was just 22 and had not had any real parts before being cast in this movie. But when she learned she was a "nymphomaniac", she said "I didn't even know what a nymphomaniac was. My mother and I had to look it up in the dictionary."! Important Added Info: Note that there are two styles of half-sheets on this classic Alfred Hitchcock movie, and both are extremely rare, much more so than the one-sheet. We have once before auctioned this style and twice before auctioned the other style. Note that neither of the half-sheets have a style marked on them. Also note that this poster has never been folded! Some pre-1970 half-sheet posters were folded twice horizontally at the poster exchange, while some were not. It can be difficult to find an unfolded example of many pre-1970 half-sheet posters (note that most post-1970 half-sheets were NOT folded, so they are pretty much only found unfolded, and therefore this does not apply to those half-sheets). Condition: very good. The poster was never folded. It was lightly rolled, which caused very faint vertical creases scattered in the poster, but they are almost invisible from the front, and I had to turn over the poster to see them. While it was rolled, it had six pieces of tape put on the back of the far right of the poster (three evenly spaced on the back of the right border and three 3" to the right of that), but those six pieces of tape do not affect the front. There are many creases and some tiny bits of paper loss scattered around the edges, as well as some faint smudges. There are a few tiny brown dot stains in the top yellow background area and some faint creases and scuffs scattered in the image. The poster displays well as it is, but it is likely that some or most of the smudges can be removed through chemical means, and if one chose to have the poster backed, of course, the minor border defects could be restored at the same time. Either way, the poster will display fantastically on the new owner's wall! Learn More about condition grades
