Date Sold 9/27/2022Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 12" x 17" [30 x 43 cm]; 12 pages) (Learn More) Teresa, the 1951 Fred Zinnemann post-World War II (WWII) romantic war brides marriage melodrama ("This is Teresa... As played by Pier Angeli in her first MGM picture. The story of a bride, revealing, intimate."; "'Teresa' the story of a bride"; "From an original story by Alfred Hayes and Stewart Stern"; about a messed up soldier who marries an 18 year old girl in Italy at the end of World War II, and then brings her back to live with him, but he is totally incapable of handling married life, and he ends up in a mental hospital, where he is briefly treated by a sympathetic psychiatrist, played by Rod Steiger in one of his early roles) starring Pier Angeli (in the title role as Teresa), John Ericson, Patricia Collinge, Richard Bishop, Peggy Ann Garner, Ralph Meeker, Bill Mauldin, and Rod Steiger. Note that this movie is what is often described as an "honest failure", in that it had very good intentions and was made by a wonderful director, but it just never "comes together". But Pier Angeli, who really was 18 when this movie was made, got rave reviews for it! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this movie proved difficult to market for MGM, and they rushed out a special "supplementary" pressbook with additional ideas on how to best market this difficult movie (see above for what made it difficult!). We have only previously auctioned one example of this supplementary pressbook, and that was 13 years ago! Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook (if the back cover is not the poster page, we photographed the interior poster page), and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners received pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Condition: very good, NO CUTS. The pressbook is complete and uncut. Learn More about condition grades
