In only his eighth professional fight, he won the undisputed heavyweight championship in 1978 after defeating Muhammad Ali in a split decision, in what was considered one of the biggest upsets in boxing history. Spinks was later stripped of the WBC title for facing Ali in an unapproved rematch seven months later, which he lost by unanimous decision. Leon passed away in 2021 at the age of 67. Important Added Info: Note that this boxing glove has been personally autographed (signed) by Leon Spinks! Our consignor met Mr. Spinks in the 2000s and he signed this glove for him (and added the date he won his historic fight!). He does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we are certain the signature is authentic. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction.
