An Original Vintage Deluxe 7 1/2" x 9 3/4" [19 x 25 cm] Still (Learn More)

The Bell Boy, the 1918 Roscoe 'Fatty' Arbuckle silent hotel comedy short starring Roscoe 'Fatty' Arbuckle (in the title role), Buster Keaton (also playing a bellboy!), Al 'Fuzzy' St. John, Alice Lake, and Joe Keaton. Note that this was one of 17 movies that Fatty Arbuckle starred in that also had appearances by Buster Keaton, who had not yet reached major fame (he was not billed or pictured on almost all posters from these 17 movies).
NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
Important Added Info: What a fascinating deluxe still this is! It shows the two great silent comedy legends (who made a series of comedy shorts together, starting in 1917), standing on a street by a cameraman standing by his movie camera. We don't recognize the movie that was being filmed, but we hope someone who sees this will be able to tell us what movie they were making. Someone hand wrote "L.A. 1915" on the back, but they were guessing, and they were surely wrong, because they did not start working together until 1917. Also note that this still measures 7 1/2" x 9 3/4" [19 x 25 cm], but it does not appear to be trimmed. Finally, note that this is a deluxe still printed on double weight paper stock.

UPDATED 11/21/2018: Note that a very knowledgeable collector has identified the movie as The Bell Boy! The stars are wearing the same outfits seen at the end of that short, and you can also see the trolley/tram tracks from the exciting chase sequence. Also, while we cannot be certain, the cameraman may be Elgin Lessley.

Condition: very good.
