An Original Vintage Folded Stage Play Poster (measures 20" x 30" [51 x 76 cm]) (Learn More)

Marta of the Lowlands, the 1903 Broadway stage play production (of the work by Angel Guimera; set in Spain, about a wealthy landowner who adopts a peasant girl and wants to marry her to a local man while keeping her for himself) starring Hobart Bosworth (as Manelich), Corona Riccardo (in the title role as Marta), Ashley Miller, Emily Wakeman, and Marjory Race. Note that this play only ran for 23 performances in 1903, but it attracted enough attention that in 1914, it was made into a movie by Paramount Pictures. This play also made a star of Hobart Bosworth, who was 36 when the play was performed. He was a Broadway actor who contracted tuberculosis while in this play, which caused the play to close, and he went to Arizona to regain his health, and that led him to Hollywood, where he became one of the first major Hollywood stars, producing his own movies, including many by Jack London!

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that ANY paper from this stage play is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned even a single movie paper item from this until we received this poster! Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube.

Condition: good. The poster was folded once in each direction and there is paper loss at the crossfold and some tears and small paper loss in the left half of the horizontal fold. There are tears and paper loss around the edges, but the vast majority of it are not in the image. There are some stains in the middle of the left border, slightly extending into the image background. It would not be difficult for a restorer to linenback this poster and repair the above defects, but bear this in mind before bidding.
