An Autographed 1 3/4" x 3 1/2" [4 x 9 cm] Index Card (Learn More)

Roger Maris was a professional Major League Baseball right fielder from the 1950s to the 1960s for several teams, including the New York Yankees and the St. Louis Cardinals. While a New York Yankee playing alongside Mickey Mantle, he set a new major league baseball single-season home run record with 61 home runs in 1961; the record remained unbroken until 1998, when it was broken by Mark McGwire. He broke Babe Ruth's old record of 60 home runs, and that incensed fans, and because the season had been enlarged to 162 games, rather than the 154 that Ruth had, his record was marked with an asterisk! Maris continues to hold the American League record for most home runs in a season! He passed away in 1985 at the age of 51 from cancer.
Important Added Info: This index card has been personally autographed (signed) by Roger Maris! The index card could be matted with a vintage or repro still and framed together to make a cool display! Note that this index card has been trimmed and it now measures 1 3/4" x 3 1/2" [4 x 9 cm]. Our consignor was a very longtime collector and dealer. In the 1970s and 1980s, he went to collectibles shows and received autographed photos and other signed items from stars who attended, and he also purchased signed items from other dealers. He passed away recently and his collection of signed items is in this set of auctions. The items do not have a certificate of authenticity, but we believe the signatures to likely be authentic.

As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction.

Condition: very good. Someone trimmed the index card to around the signature.
