An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

Stolen Moments, the 1920 James Vincent silent romantic blackmail crime melodrama ("Written by H. Thompson Rich") starring Marguerite Namara, Rudolph Valentino (billed as "Rudolf Valentine"), Albert L. Barrett, Henrietta Simpson, Arthur Earle, and Aileen Pringle. In this movie, Valentino plays a real cad! He is a Brazilian visiting the deep south where he romances a woman and she breaks her engagement and goes to South America with him, only to discover he has no intention of marrying her. She returns home, and later he turns up, trying to blackmail her, and he is killed, and suspicion falls on the woman, but it turns out he was killed by the brother of a different woman he jilted. Note that when this movie was released in 1920, Marguerite Namara was the star of this movie, and Valentino was not well known (and he was billed as "Rudolf Valentine"!). But the following year, he had a part in "Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse", in which he was not prominently billed, but that role made him a major star, which quickly led to several other movies, including "The Sheik", also in 1921. At that point (late 1921 or early 1922), this movie was re-released, and Valentino was now top billed (as "Rodolph Valentino", as he was billed in some 1922 movies), and poor Maguerite Namara was no longer billed at all! Movie paper from this title has always been incredibly rare. Prior to 2018, the only poster that we had auctioned was an English three-sheet, from the early re-release described above. In 2018, we auctioned a title card from the U.S. re-release described above (which is the only U.S. paper we have auctioned).

Important Added Info: Note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.

We are doing something in this set of auctions we rarely do! A couple of years ago, we were approached by a very long time collector, and he asked us if he could give us an entire auction of single lobby cards by himself. We agreed, and held that auction in 2017, and later that same year, a different collector sent us a different group of 999 lobby cards and we repeated the process. Now we have a third such "single owner" collection. This one was originally assembled in Australia, which is why some of the cards have either Australian paper snipes attached or Australian ratings stamps (but many do not have them). This collection originally contained 1,100 cards, and we auctioned 100 of them in our March Major Auction, and now we are auctioning the remaining 999 in THIS set of auctions, and after this auction, there will be no more cards to be offered. As will immediately be evident when you look at the cards, many of them are from titles where you almost never see any lobby cards, so this is a rare opportunity to acquire many cards that almost never are offered for sale or at auction!

Condition: good. The card was folded down the center and there is clear tape on the back of that fold. There are some creases and faint smudges around the edges, with a pinhole in each corner.
