An Original Vintage English Movie Trade Ad (measures 11" x 17" [28 x 43 cm]; 1 page) (Learn More)

Three Faces West, the 1940 Bernard Vorhaus World War II (WWII) Home Front romantic love triangle adventure melodrama ("GUILTY of daring to love and live"; a complicated story of an Austrian surgeon and his daughter who flee Germany to escape Hitler, and they go to a small town in North Dakota; but the town is devastated by dust storms, and all the townspeople are led to Oregon by a handsome young man, who the daughter starts to fall for, but her father wants her to marry the man who helped them escape from Germany, but she learns that he has embraced Nazism) starring John Wayne, Sigrid Gurie, Charles Coburn, Spencer Charters, and Helen MacKellar. Note that it goes unstated in the movie, but it seems obvious that the surgeon and his daughter are Jewish, and one of the screenwriters was Samuel Ornitz, who was later one of the blacklisted Hollywood Ten screenwriters!

Important Added Info: Note that this is a great trade ad taken out of an issue of Kinematograph Weekly English trade magazine (we have 33 of them in this set of auctions). Studios would run these elaborate ads in issues of this magazine, and they often had images not found on any of the regular movie posters (either English or U.S.). This trade ad was removed from a 1940 issue of this magazine, and it will look incredible displayed on the new owner's wall. The back of this trade ad has text or ads for other movies from that time, and we have not pictured the back because the primary interest to bidders is the great ad we have pictured.

Condition: good. The ad was removed from a magazine (see above). It has some paper loss along portions of the edges (see our image).
