French Cancan (also released in the U.S. as an edited version under the title "Jean Renoir's Only the French Can"), the 1955 Jean Renoir French/Italian Moulin Rouge romantic musical dance comedy (about a theater producer who turns a maid into a star at the famous French musical revue, Moulin Rouge) starring Jean Gabin, Francoise Arnoul, Maria Felix, Edith Piaf, Patachou, Andre Claveau, Jean Raymond, and Franco Pastorino

Artist: Rene Gruau
Important Added Info: Note that this is a "country of origin" poster for this partially French movie! Obviously, this very large (88 3/4" x 123 3/4" [225 x 314 cm]) and surely super rare poster would look incredible in any dance studio, restaurant, or any public place! However, please remember that it needs to be sent in a tube slightly over 90 inches long, so it would be many hundreds of dollars to send outside the U.S. and probably $200-300 to sent within the U.S., so please bear this added expense in mind BEFORE you place your bid on this poster (if you are willing to pay $1,000 in all, then bid $700, so that you will pay roughly that amount once you pay the shipping as well).

Also note that it is extremely difficult for us to photograph a poster THIS large! We have a professional photography setup, but there are limits to the dimensions we can photograph, and while we were able to photograph this poster, the top and bottom sides of it were close to our lights, which caused a brightness to the top and bottom of the poster that is NOT in the actual poster, so bear this in mind when you look at our images.

Note that this poster ships in a very long tube (at least 33" long, but possibly 50" long or more). Therefore the shipping for this poster will be more than that for a poster that ships in a tube 32" or shorter, and possibly much more. Please bear this added shipping expense in mind before bidding on this poster. You can tell how long of a tube this poster needs to ship in by looking at the shorter dimension of its length and width and then adding 4" to that (so a 47" x 63" poster will need to ship in a 51" long tube).

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at some crossfolds and tiny tears and smudges on parts of most foldlines. There were some tiny tears and tiny areas of paper loss in the borders. There was some faint discoloration in the borders and the solid white areas. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was fairly well backed, with minimal restoration, but you can clearly see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
