An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Chester Morris was an actor from the 1910s to the 1970s. He was one of those great "square-jawed" leading men, but he did not start out that way! He made his first movie when he was 17, and he had some success in movies, but he went to Broadway, where he got some leading roles while still a teenager, and billed himself as "The youngest leading man in the country"! In 1923, he returned to Hollywood but did not have lots of success until movies started to talk, and he was nominated for the Best Actor Oscar for "Alibi" in 1929, his first talking picture. He had a major role in "The Big House" the following year, which made him a top star, which he remained through most of the 1930s. He successfully transitioned to supporting roles in the 1940s, but he had the lead role in the "Boston Blackie" series of movies in the early 1940s. He passed away in 1970 at the age of 69 after a battle with cancer. Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by Chester Morris! Our consignor is a very longtime dealer/collector who acquired this signed item in the 1970s, and kept it in his collection until now, when he is selling parts of his collection. He does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we believe the signature to likely be authentic. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased (although we prefer they do any "authenticating" while the auction is "live" and before they place a bid) and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes. Condition: good to very good. Learn More about condition grades
