eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 2y0087 RIO RITA WC 1942 Bud Abbott & Lou Costello with sexy dancer Eros Volusia, rare! Date Sold 9/27/2022Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Movie Window Card (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More) Rio Rita, the 1942 S. Sylvan Simon south-of-the-border romantic musical screwball comedy ("The Daffy-Dilly Jubilee of Mirth and Music!"; "Special Material by John Grant"; about not very bright entertainers at a Mexican resort, and they meet Nazi agents who try to trick them into smuggling contraband into the U.S.) starring Bud Abbott, Lou Costello (Abbott and Costello), Kathryn Grayson (in the title role as Rita Winslow), John Carroll, Patricia Dane, Tom Conway, Peter Whitney, Eros Volusia (a sexy Brazilian dancer; as herself), and Joan Valerie. Note that the contract that Abbott & Costello had signed with Universal allowed them to make one movie a year at a different studio, and this movie was made with MGM (they made two other MGM movies in 1944 and 1945). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is one of seven Abbott & Costello window cards that we auctioned earlier this year in an amazing group of 24 different Abbott & Costello window cards. The person who bought this window card (and six others from those 24) now has a need to resell them, so he has reconsigned all seven, and they are currently being auctioned again, in seven separate auctions. Most of these window cards are quite rare, and it is likely it will be some time before they are offered again. Note that the poster has no bottom border, but it has NOT been trimmed (all of the window cards on this title were printed with the bottom of the image flush with the bottom of the poster). Since these window cards have no bottom blank white border, some people mistakenly assume they have been trimmed, but they have NOT! They measure 14" x 22", and this is exactly how they were originally printed. This is something MGM was experimenting with at the time, but they abandoned it (perhaps because theater owners thought they were receiving trimmed window cards!). Condition: good.
