An Original Vintage Stage Play Souvenir Program Book (measures 8 1/2" x 11" [22 x 28 cm]; 20 pages) (Learn More)

Othello, the 1943 - 1944 Broadway tragedy melodrama stage play revival (written by William Shakespeare) starring Paul Robeson (one of the first black African American actors to achieve success in mainstream sound movies; in the title role "as Othello The Moor of Venice"), Jose Ferrer (as Iago), Uta Hagen (as Desdemona), Ralph Clanton, and Edith King
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we have seen two versions of this program book. In one, Robeson gets giant billing above the title and Ferrer and Hagen get equal billing to the next two stars. In the other version, which has a 25 cent price on the cover that the other does not, Ferrer and Hagen are now billed above the title with Robeson, and some of the cast members have changed. We are not sure which one predates the other, but we would imagine that the one with better billing for Ferrer and Hagen was later. There are also other differences in the two programs, including some switched photos of the stars in the biographical area. The program offered here is the one we think is the second version. Also note that we have pictured the front cover and an interior 2-page spread from this program. You can use these images to determine the exact condition of it from our super-sized image, but realize that there are some other pages you are not seeing.

Condition: very good.
