Date Sold 9/6/2015Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures 3 1/4" x 4" [8 x 10 cm]) (Learn More) Emperor Jones, the 1933 Dudley Murphy black African American rags-to-riches romantic melodrama ("From the stage play by Eugene O'Neill"; "Eugene O'Neill's amazing story of the pullman porter who Became a King"; "From the world-famous novel by Ferenc Molnar"; "Screen play by Jo Swerling") starring Paul Robeson (in the title role as Brutus Jones), Dudley Digges, Frank H. Wilson, Fredi Washington (a very light-skinned, very talented black African American actress who refused to try to "pass for white", and who appeared in several important black related movies including "Imitation of Life" and "Black and Tan"; ironically, she had to have her skin darkened, so she could "pass for black"!), Lorenzo Tucker, and Ruby Elzy NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). We have taken a digital photo of each that shows the general condition of the overall slide and holder, and we have also made a digital scan that shows the glass image well, but does not show the holder (except as a dark outline). Condition: very good. There is much staining on the cardboard, but the slide itself is in nice condition. Learn More about condition grades
