Persil is a brand of laundry detergent created in 1907 by the German company Henkel. It is notable because it was the first commercially available "self-activated" laundry detergent and it was a significant chemical breakthrough. During the washing process, oxygenated perborate forms small bubbles, doing the "work of the washboard", saving consumers time and rendering the historic method of "sun-bleaching" (by laying clothes out in the sun) unnecessary. The name is derived from two of its original ingredients, sodium perborate and sodium silicate. Today, Persil is sold in several countries in powder, liquid detergent, liquid capsule, liqui-gel, and tablet forms.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that the term Sachplakat, or Object Poster, was coined in Germany around 1905 to describe a new type of poster which featured a realistic depiction of the product and little else. The craze for this poster type continued in Switzerland, where the passion for precision in printing and drawing technique was unsurpassed. Shortly after, the iconic beauty of the everyday object became the mission of a group of artists in Basel, who made the Sachplakat the leading Swiss style in the '40s and early '50s. Often laced with humor and of stunning visual impact, these posters represent the last great period of the lithographic poster, which high cost and long production cycles was soon to eliminate.

Condition: very good to fine. The poster has a few light creases scattered in various areas, but they are not very noticeable or distracting, and otherwise it is in pretty nice condition.
