A Group of 56 Photographic Negatives (some in strips; ranging in size from 1 1/4" x 1 1/4" to 3" x 10 1/2" [8 x 27 cm]; see below for more on this) (Learn More) The Sid Caesar Show, the 1963 - 1964 comedy sketch variety television (TV) series starring Sid Caesar, Joey Forman, Gisele MacKenzie, Marilyn Hanold, Bea Arthur and more. This was a legendary early TV comedy show that had a massive influence on all TV comedy that followed it. Not only was this because of the structure of the show, but also because of the legendary talent connected with it, not just the actors, a few of whom are listed above, but also because of the writers, who went on to unbelievably successful careers, including Mel Brooks, Larry Gelbart, Carl Reiner, Neil Simon, Woody Allen, Aaron Ruben, and Howard Morris (who was Ernest T. Bass on The Andy Griffith Show, but who also was an important writer on that show). Not very well remembered today is Mel Tolkin, who was the head writer on this show, and he went on to write Important Added Info: Note that some of the 56 images measure 2 1/4" x 2 1/4" and some measure 1 1/4" x 1 1/4", and that most of them are connected on film strips, as seen in our images. Also in this lot is a memo from Lawrence Eisenberg describing the film strips, on a printed memo sheet, noting the show was on ABC and sponsored by Dutch Masters Cigars (see our images). Note that these are "studio-issued" negatives. What are they? They were produced by the studio but are not the camera originals. They are very high quality and were created in quantity by the studios and sent to media outlets or other places that had need of the very highest quality image for reproduction purposes (in newspapers, magazines, or elsewhere). We have put scans of the negatives that show the "positive image" of each. REMEMBER THAT WHAT YOU RECEIVE WILL BE PHOTOGRAPHIC NEGATIVES, NOT POSITIVE IMAGES LIKE YOU ARE SEEING. However, we will provide the winning bidder of this auction those positive image scans that are both high quality and not watermarked (on request to the winning bidder, and only the winning bidder). Each of the negatives is in a plastic sleeve (but we removed each and scanned them, so that bidders could see just how high quality they are). They will be sent to the winner of the auction in their sleeves. Note: We have 13 images of the negatives in this set, but due to a space limitation, only TEN of the 13 images are displayed above.
