An Original 1956 (from the first release of this movie in France) Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked French "Petite" Movie Poster (measures 15 3/4" x 22 1/4" [40 x 57 cm]) (Learn More) Il Bidone (released in the U.S. in 1962 as "The Swindle"), the 1955 Federico Fellini Italian/French family relationship con man crime melodrama (about an aging con man who meets his grown daughter, and decides to try to make a lot of money with newly met crooks, so that he can provide for her education, but when he cuts out his partners and gives all the money to his daughter, he is brutally beaten) starring Broderick Crawford, Giulietta Masina, Richard Basehart, Franco Fabrizi, and Sue Ellen Blake. Note that this movie was made in Italy in 1955 and was released all over Europe over the next few years, but it did not receive a U.S. release at all, likely because of the very depressing nature of the movie. However, after Fellini's great success with "La Dolce Vita" in 1960, this movie was given a U.S. release in 1962. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Also note that there is a tiny "3/56 Depot legal 56/1" with "24.562" beside that at the bottom of the poster. This means that this poster is from the first 1956 French release, and that this is the first time the poster was printed. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair. The poster had minor wear on the folds. It had a foreign stamp in the lower left above the title. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but at some point after it was backed, it acquired a lot of staining in the top 3" and in the lower right, which affects both the excess linen and the poster itself.
