Frank Baum; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Judy Garland (as Dorothy), Frank Morgan (in the title role as The Wizard of Oz!), Ray Bolger (as The Scarecrow), Bert Lahr (as The Cowardly Lion), Jack Haley (as The Tin Man), Billie Burke (as Glinda, the Good Witch), Margaret Hamilton (as the Wicked Witch), Charley Grapewin, "The Munchkins", and Toto too! Note that MGM was worried about how well this movie would do at the box office, and they did something we don't remember seeing on any other major movie advertising! One of the taglines says "Biggest sensation since Snow White", which means MGM was advertising a Walt Disney movie, but that shows just how worried they were! Of course, they needn't have worried, because this was a timeless classic that has only improved with age.

Important Added Info: Note that this lot consists of THREE personally autographed (signed) REPRODUCTION stills. One was signed by Jack Haley, one was signed by Ray Bolger AND Margaret Hamilton, and one was signed by Buddy Ebsen! Our consignor acquired these one by one, and was planning on obtaining a fourth repro signed by Judy Garland, and then framing all four repros together, but never did get to do that, which is why these three repros remain unframed (and of course, the new owner could frame just these together, or frame them individually, or finish what the consignor set out to do, and find another repro signed by Judy Garland! Also note that the Buddy Ebsen photo comes with a "certificate of authenticity" from R&R Enterprises.

Note that this comes from a wonderful collection that was assembled by a collector decades ago, mostly from RR Auctions, which has auctioned signed items since 1976. The person who purchased these items passed away several years ago, and while he did not save most of the certificates of authenticity he received when he bought these signed items, almost all were purchased between the late 1970s and the early 1990s, and we think it is extremely likely that the autograph on this item is genuine. In our last two auctions, we auctioned around 100 items from this same consignor, and we thought that was the very last of this wonderful collection, but our consignor discovered a few more items that had been missed, so we are auctioning those last ones in this set of auctions.

As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes.
