An Original 1927 (from the first release of this movie in Germany) Vintage German Film Program (measures 9" x 11 3/4" [23 x 30 cm]; 8 pages) (Learn More)

Mat (released in the U.S. as "Mother"), the classic 1926 Vsevolod Pudovkin Russian silent Soviet Union Russian Revolution of 1905 melodrama (based on the novel by Maxim Gorky) starring Vera Baranovskaya (in the title role), Nikolai Batalov, Ivan Koval-Samborsky, Anna Zemtsova, and Aleksandr Chistyakov
Important Added Info: Note that first release movie paper from this classic Russian Pudovkin movie is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned even a single movie paper item from this movie that was from a first release of the movie until we received this German program (except for a few items from countries where it was not released until the 1970s)! Also, note that the back cover has a montage on it that has images of what appear to be one or several first release German and Russian posters (see our images)! Also note that we have provided an image of four of the pages of this 8-page program (we did this by opening it and laying it flat and photographing the front and back cover together, and two of the interior pages together). You can see the four of the 8 pages, and can well determine the exact condition of it from our super-sized image, but realize that there are 4 pages you are not seeing. But of course this means that the front cover appears in the top right of our image, but normally, the program would be folded down the center and you would view the cover by itself (and it will be sent folded as was originally intended).

Condition: good. There are small tears and some small areas of paper loss around the edges of all pages. There is pencil writing in the top left corner of the cover that is really interesting, because it gives the play dates for two cities in Germany (one at the end of October 1927, and the other at the beginning of November). Obviously, one would prefer to find an example of this program in better condition, but that might take many years, or even lifetimes (and the main image area of each page is in pretty nice condition)!
