Date Sold 7/21/2011Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 3 Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Cards (LCs; measure 11" x 14") (Learn More) His Picture in the Papers, the 1916 John Emerson silent romantic crime slapstick comedy (a truly wacky story of a strapping young man whose father owns a health food empire, based on vegetarianism, but the son is a meat eater, so he and his father have nothing to do with each other!; but the son wants to marry a young woman, and her father will only agree if he has a half interest in his father's company, so he begs his father to do so, and his father agrees, but only if he can "get his picture in the papers"; he does all kinds of publicity stunts, including beating up a champion boxer, but none of them get covered by the newspapers, until finally, he happens to see a group of crooks robbing a train by causing a derailment, and that makes him a national hero, and he is on the covers of all the newspapers, and his father gives him the half interest and he is able to marry his girl) starring Douglas Fairbanks Sr., Loretta Blake, Clarence Handyside, Rene Boucicault, and Jean Temple. Note that some really major names were involved in this movie! It was produced by D.W. Griffith, co-written by Anita Loos, who also wrote "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes", and one of the assistant directors was Erich von Stroheim! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Condition: good to very good. The cards are somewhat discolored (more so around the edges) but are otherwise in generally nice condition especially considering their age.
