An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) The Dirty Dozen, the classic 1967 Robert Aldrich English/U.S. World War II (WWII) military suicide mission action thriller ("The Nazis Never Bargained For The Dirty Dozen!"; "D-Day began when the Dirty Dozen were done!"; "Train Them! Excite Them! Arm Them! ...Then Turn Them Loose on the Nazis!"; "Damn them or praise them...You'll never forget the Dirty Dozen!"; "In 70 mm wide screen and full stereophonic sound!"; "From the novel by E.M. Nathanson"; about condemned army prisoners in World War II who are given a chance to get pardoned if they go on a suicide mission attacking a Nazi resort!) starring Lee Marvin, Ernest Borgnine, Charles Bronson, Jim Brown, John Cassavetes (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), Richard Jaeckel, George Kennedy, Trini Lopez, Ralph Meeker, Robert Ryan, Telly Savalas, Clint Walker, Robert Webber, and Donald Sutherland (in an early role!) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Frank McCarthy Important Added Info: Note that almost all of the one-sheets for this classic movie that have a 1968 copyright date at lower left and a 67 NSS number in the lower right. There are one-sheets that have a tagline in the middle left that reads "In 70 mm wide screen and full stereophonic sound!" and others that do not have that tagline (obviously, the ones without it did not show the movie in 70mm). This poster HAS that tagline, and also has a 1967 copyright date at lower left, and it is only the fifth one-sheet we have auctioned that has that earlier copyright (and the last one like this we auctioned was in 2018 and it sold for $348!). We are not sure what this means, because the movie opened in June 1967, so why would most of the one-sheets have a 1968 copyright date? There are two conflicting possibilities. One is that the movie opened in 1967 with the 1967 copyright date one-sheets, and then, because the movie was so popular, more one-sheets were printed in 1968, and they changed the copyright date, but did not change anything else. OR, they made a typo with the one-sheets and put 1968 on it, and then someone noticed that and more one-sheets were printed with the correct 1967 date. But neither of these ideas explain why this poster is so rare! If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: good. The poster has light rippling in several areas but slightly more so in the lower quarter and credits (see our image). It has darkened around the edges which have some creases and tiny tears along portions of some edges. There is small separation at the upper left and right edges of the upper horizontal fold and its crossfold, and those have been backed by clear tape. Despite the defects it is still colorful and "all there" and after linenbacking with some proper restoration the very rare and desirable poster will display well, but bear in mind the poster's condition and the cost of restoration before bidding on it.
