6 Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Lobby Cards (Learn More)

The Sea Wolf, the 1920 George Melford silent sailor sailing melodrama ("By Jack London"; about the captain of a sailing ship who firmly believes that it is better to reign in Hell than to serve in Heaven, and lives and dies by his belief) starring Noah Beery Sr. (in the title role as 'Wolf' Larsen), James Gordon, Raymond Hatton, A. Edward Sutherland, Walter Long, Mabel Julienne Scott, and Tom Forman (as Humphrey Van Weyden). Note that the movie remade in 1930 starring Milton Sills, and it was remade by Michael Curtiz in 1941 with Edward G. Robinson, Ida Lupino and John Garfield in the lead roles.

Important Added Info: Note that we have never auctioned ANY movie paper for this film in all of our years of auctioning! Note also that, in the early days of movie making, when lobby cards were first made (around 1915), studios would issue sets of the cards in two sizes; the regular 11" x 14" size, and a smaller 8" x 10" size. The cards were identical in every way except for the different size. This practice continued through the early 1920s, at which point the studios abandoned the smaller lobby cards, likely because theaters either ordered 11" x 14" lobby cards or 8" x 10" stills, and did not order enough of the 8" x 10" lobby cards to justify them continuing to make them.

Condition: good. Each has varying amounts of rippling and/or slight discoloration scattered in various areas due to exposure to moisture (see our images). The card at upper left has more rippling than the others. Each has a few tiny pinholes around the edges. Please see our super-sized images to get a good sense of the condition of these items prior to placing a bid.
