Date Sold 9/9/2012Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 8 Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Cards (LCs; measure 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Devil's Harvest, the 1942 Ray Test marijuana marihuana pot weed grass drugs exploitation melodrama ("The truth about... marijuana drugs ...the smoke of Hell!"; a tale of the marijuana drug traffic among high school students!) starring June Doyle, John Clayton, Leo Anthony, Ben Barlow, and Ed Murray. Note that any posters or lobby cards from this movie are rare and very desired by collectors, especially because they all have the great tagline "The truth about... Marijuana The smoke of Hell!". Note that it is difficult to know if items from this movie are from the very first release in 1942, or from the many continuous releases of it over the next few years, when the movie had "roadshow" releases throughout America in little towns. We identify all the items as being from 1942, but the ones that are two color may be from soon after. If anyone knows more about any of this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have only ever sold three of these full-color 1942 cards before (see below for more on them). Offered here is a complete set, but with an oddity! They were glued into album pages back to back, so that there are four sets of two cards each, where the cards are glued back to back with an album page in between, and one card from each set has a piece of white tape along a border with two circular holes in the white tape (which is what held them into the album). Be sure to carefully read over this before bidding on these cards, so you realize exactly what this unusual defect is! Note that there are green and black posters on this classic drug movie that may or may not be from the very first release (given the inexpensive printing, it seems likely that they might be from a 1940s or 1950s re-release). However, the lobby cards offered here have full-color printing, and it seems to me to be a certainty that they are from the very first release of this movie (there were sepia lobby cards that were made for re-releases). Surely these cards would be a cornerstone in any collection of drug related movies! Condition: good. The cards are in four sets of two, glued back to back . Four of them have a strip of white tape along one blank border, and holes in the edge of the blank tape that does not extent into the cards. Other than being glued and having the tape on one border, the cards have some creases and scuffs scattered throughout and some very minor border wear. As they currently are, you can only view four of the cards at a time, but surely a restorer could remove them from each other and also remove the white tape, and after restoration, they will be eight separate cards again, but please do not bid on this set of cards unless you can accept its unusual defect or are willing to pay to have them restored (and we have no clue how easy or difficult that would be).
