An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) A Farewell to Arms, the 1932 Frank Borzage World War I (WWI) military romantic melodrama ("Here is Ernest Hemingway's greatest Novel!"; "Unforgettable story of an undaunted love"; "A great book! A greater picture!"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; based on the novel by Ernest Hemingway; about an American ambulance driver and an English nurse falling in love in France during World War I) starring Helen Hayes, Gary Cooper, Adolphe Menjou, Jack La Rue, and Mary Philips. Note that in 1951, Warner Bros. updated the story to World War II, and did not pay for the rights, so the movie was called "A Force of Arms". In 1957, it was remade under the original title with Rock Hudson and Jennifer Jones. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this first release lobby card! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Note that we were consigned the entire set of 8 cards from this title, and we are auctioning them in 8 separate auctions! This means that bidders can either choose to buy the one card they want the most (but of course, they can also still bid on all the cards, if they would like a complete set). Condition: fair. The entire card has darkened somewhat. The card either has a printing defect, or a defect acquired after printing that resulted in light red staining in much of the top1" of the card, more so in the left half. There are tack holes in each corner, with tiny paper loss the bottom right corner. There are smudges and some small stains around the edges, with some tiny stains and scuff marks by both stars' mouths, and two fine diagonal scuff marks by Cooper's eye and forehead. This is the sort of card that can be restored professionally, but the scuff marks and tiny stains in the stars' faces will make it a far more difficult restoration, so bear this in mind before bidding on this card. Please look closely at our images of the front and back of this card before bidding. Note that this card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back!
