An Unfolded German Special Poster (measures 17" x 24" [43 x 61 cm]) (Learn More) Zoo Berlin (also known as the Berlin Zoological Garden) is the oldest and best known zoo in Germany. It opened in 1844, currently covers 86.5 acres and is located in Berlin's Tiergarten. With about 1,380 different species and over 20,200 animals the zoo presents one of the most comprehensive collection of species in the world. The zoo and its aquarium had more than 3.5 million visitors in 2017, and is considered to be the most visited zoo in Europe (and one of the most popular worldwide). Globally known animals like Knut, the polar bear, and Bao Bao, the giant panda have contributed to the zoo's public image. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is one of a wonderful collection of 24 German zoo posters we were consigned, and are currently auctioning in 24 separate auctions! We have NEVER auctioned twelve of the posters before! Twenty of the posters are from the Tierpark Berlin Zoo and four of the posters are from Zoo Berlin. This is a very rare opportunity to purchase any or all of these excellent posters which will look great displayed on the wall! Note that we were able to date some of these exactly and some we had to guess at. If anyone knows the exact dates of the ones we did not date exactly, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Also note that in our December 2021 Major Auction we auctioned 18 German zoo posters like these, and all but two of them auctioned for between $673 and $88, and ten of them sold for $150. Most of the 24 we are currently auctioning are different from the ones we auctioned in December (although there are a few that are the same). Condition: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It has creases, small tears and areas of paper loss along portions of the blank borders (partially repaired with white tape from the back at lower left).
