Date Sold 10/15/2020Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage 6 1/4" x 7 3/4" [16 x 20 cm] News Photo (Learn More) Primo Carnera was an Italian world heavyweight champion boxer from the 1920s to the 1940s. After his boxing career ended, he became a professional wrestler, and he also appeared in a few movies from the 1930s to the 1950s, naturally playing a strong man of some sort. Some of his movies include: Hercules Unchained, Mighty Joe Young, and A Kid for Two Farthings. He played Frankenstein in an episode of the TV show "Matinee Theatre" in 1957. Carnera passed away in 1967 at the age of 60. Important Added Info: Note that this news photo measures 6 1/4" x 7 3/4" [16 x 20 cm]. It is, as noted above, from when Mr. Carnera played Frankenstein in a single episode of the TV show "Matinee Theatre", which ran from 1956 to 1958, and which featured single episode adaptations of both classic literature and newly written stories. This is surely one of the most rare "Frankenstein" stills there is, given that probably few, if any, stills survive from any episodes of this obscure TV series. Note that this still is from the first showing of the 2/5/57 episode of "Matinee Theatre". We know that for certain because it has the date "FEB 1 1957" stamped on the snipe on the back. It is very hard to find stills from 1950s or 1960s TV episodes that are absolutely from the first release, and are surely not from a 1960s or 1970s re-broadcast. Condition: very good to fine.
