The Hot Rubber Company, the 1990s Swiss advertising poster promoting Hot Rubber Company condoms. In 1985, a group of self-proclaimed homosexuals banded together to start a campaign for the use of condoms, and they developed the Hot Rubber. An English name was chosen to overcome Switzerland's multilingualism and to give the product a cosmopolitan aura. Note that there are currently around 20,000 people in Switzerland living with HIV. 445 new cases of HIV were diagnosed in Switzerland in 2017 (16% fewer than the previous year). This marks a historical low, and a continuation of the downward trend that they have been seeing since 2008.
