A Deluxe 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Music Publicity Still (Learn More) Guy Lombardo was Canadian-American bandleader and violinist (of Italian descent) from the 1920s to the 1970s. Lombardo formed the Royal Canadians in 1924 with his brothers Carmen, Lebert, and Victor, and other musicians from his hometown. They billed themselves as creating "the sweetest music this side of Heaven". The Lombardos are believed to have sold between 100 and 300 million records during their lifetimes, many featuring the band's lead singer, Kenny Gardner. Some of his works include: Tea For Two, Star Dust and Auld Lang Syne (his orchestra became so associated with that song that he performed it on television every New Year's Eve!). He passed away in 1977 at the age of 75. Important Added Info: Note that in 2010, we auctioned a remarkable group of deluxe Decca Records Jazz portraits that were just discovered at that time. Each was printed on a high quality paper stock, and each has a FACSIMILE autograph that is within the printing of the still (the still has NOT been personally autographed). We have been consigned two examples of these that we sold six years ago, this one and one of Frances Langford (which is in a separate auction). Condition: good to very good. The still has darkened somewhat. There are a few creases and scuffs scattered in the image. Learn More about condition grades
