Date Sold 10/9/2016Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Magazine (measures 10 1/2" x 12 1/4" [27 x 31 cm]) (Learn More) Official Detective Stories, one of the many "true crime" magazines published in the 1960s (at least). Each issue had supposed factual accounts of crimes and their solving (with many images), but they weren't always very accurate or true. Some of the stories were written by well known authors who were short on money (and often wrote under pseudonyms). If anyone knows more about this magazine, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Important Added Info: Note that one of the cover stories in this magazine was about the true story of the two kidnapped Los Angeles police officers which had taken place in March of 1963. Both were kidnapped, and one was killed, and ten years later, Joseph Wambaugh would write a book about it called "The Onion Field" (and it became a movie in 1979). What is especially interesting about this article (besides it having many illustrations of the officers, the killers, and the officers' families) is that it was once covered over on the cover by a large snipe (someone later removed it), leading us to believe that there was surely litigation by either the surviving officer or the family of the murdered officer! If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Note that we have provided a picture of the front cover of the magazine, and pictures of interior two-page spreads (including the table of contents page if there is one; but we didn't make much effort to find the best ones!). These images should greatly help you judge the overall condition of the magazine, and the contents page lets you know exactly what articles and stories are contained in this particular issue. Please know that these magazines are sealed in bags and are ready for shipping, and we cannot answer any questions about them or look through them for you, so please bid (or do not bid) based on the images we have provided. Condition: good. There was a snipe on the cover that was removed. There is writing at the top of the cover. Learn More about condition grades
