A Woman - Trying to escape her future!" "'Don't try to get rid of me for another woman... ...it won't work!"'; based on the novel 'Build My Gallows High' by Daniel Mainwaring; a great story of a private investigator who is hired by a gangster to find his missing mistress, and he does so, but then he falls for her, and starts a romance with her, even though he knows he is likely signing his death warrant) starring Robert Mitchum, Jane Greer, Kirk Douglas (in his third movie role!), Rhonda Fleming, Richard Webb, Steve Brodie, Dickie Moore, Virginia Huston, Paul Valentine, and Ken Niles NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that first release lobby cards from this most classic movie are very desirable, especially the ones with the best scenes and of course, the great title card. But because the vast majority of first release sets were long ago "broken up" and sold by the card, we have only auctioned more than one card three times, and those were two cards and three cards, and never more than that. This auction gives collectors a chance to get a complete set all at once, something that would likely take many years to do otherwise! Note that this movie was Kirk Douglas' third movie ever, and he really made an impression on audiences in a relatively small, but important, role. The people who made the posters for the first release did not know this, of course, and Douglas is billed but not pictured on the posters, and is only on card #8. We have only previously auctioned card #8 twice, and one was in "good" condition and one was in "good to very good" condition. Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: very good. Some of the cards have tiny pinholes in the corners, with some creases and smudges around the edges. Just a few have a few tiny tears in the borders and a few have some creases or scuffs in the image. Generally, the cards are in pretty nice condition and have had no restoration.
