The Old South, the 1940 Fred Zinnemann historical Civil War Southern cotton industry slavery short ("A miniature"; about the rise of the cotton industry in the South and how that helped fuel the increase of the West African slave trade, and its subsequent fall as slavery fueled the the Civil War) starring George Lynn (as Eli Whitney) and Frank Whitbeck. Note that Gone With the Wind premiered in just a few theaters n December, 1939, and this short was released in January, 1940, and it was then shown by MGM in theatres prior to showings of Gone With the Wind! It even appears in the 2004 four DVD boxed set of this classic movie! Also note that this short was directed by legendary director Fred Zinnemann, near the start of his career, when he solely directed MGM shorts. It would not be for two more years before he would direct his first feature film!

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have never auctioned ANY movie paper items from this short in all our years of auctioning!

Condition: good. The poster has some rippling scattered in various areas and some creases at upper left. There is discoloration along the lower edge (see our image). It has a few inches of separation above the top crossfold and some in the middle and bottom crossfolds and those areas are backed with conservation tape. There is several inches of separation in the upper right horizontal fold edge with some blank paper loss. The very rare poster is otherwise "all there" and after proper restoration it will display well, but bear in mind the poster's condition and the cost of restoration before bidding on it.
