An Original Vintage 9 1/4" x 11 1/2" [23 x 29 cm] Photo (Learn More) Woody Allen was born Allan Stewart Konigsberg in Brooklyn in 1935, and he was a comedy writer and stand-up comedian who got his big break writing (and acting in) What's New Pussycat in 1965. He bought the rights to What's Up, Tiger Lily?. a terrible Japanese James Bond rip-off, and dubbed in absurd English dialog. The first of his "regular" movies was Take the Money and Run, which he wrote, directed, and starred in ("I have a gub in my pocket"). He followed this with Bananas, Play It Again, Sam, Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex, Sleeper, Love and Death, and finally his masterpiece, Annie Hall, one of the most remarkable bursts of creativity the movies have ever seen! Allen grew tired on making "funny movies" and he next directed and wrote (but did not act in) his Ingmar Bergman inspired Interiors, which I thought marvelous, but many fans asked that he return to his old format. He did somewhat with Manhattan and Interiors (both of which I feel are on a par with his earlier movies). Since that time I feel he has completely lost his way, both personally and professionally, and after dutifully seeing each of his movies for several years I finally stopped seeing any of them. But for the period from 1969 to 1979, Allen was the world's greatest comedy director/star, on a level not seen since the days of Chaplin and Keaton! AND Diane Keaton is an actress from the 1970s to the present. Some of her movis include: The Godfather Trilogy, Annie Hall, Manhattan, and Father of the Bride Important Added Info: We know that Woody Allen and Diane Keaton were a "couple" in 1970 to 1971, and we believe that this photo was taken at that time. It has "1972" written in pencil on the back and a 1974 stamp as well, but we think those are from when this photo was used in magazines. Note that this photo was taken by "celebrity photographer" Peter C. Borsari. He was born in Switzerland in 1939, and starting in 1965, he became one of Hollywood's greatest celebrity photographers, and he was invited to all of Hollywood's premier events, where he was given access to take photographs of celebrities "behind the scenes", and he often contributed to People magazine, starting with the first issue, and having photographs in virtually every issue until the late 1990s, including many covers. His images were also used in all the other entertainment magazines and shown on television. He was also the exclusive photographer for the Playboy mansion special events and he photographed non-entertainment celebrities as well, including U.S. presidents, starting with Richard Nixon. He developed personal relationships with many celebrities and because they trusted him, and loved the photos he took, he would even photograph weddings and other personal events! This photo comes from his personal archive and is a first generation photo from when it was taken. It was used to lease the image to magazines (the photo would be sent to the magazine and the back often had credit and return information for Mr. Borsari. eMoviePoster.com is auctioning 42 photos from the Peter Borsari archive, in 42 separate auctions! Condition: fair to good. The photo was used in a magazine at least once, and there is touch up paint around the stars' figures that made it reproduce better in the magazine. It was also trimmed from a larger size and there are creases and tiny bits of surface paper loss around the edges (see our images). Learn More about condition grades
