Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (measures 11" x 14") (Learn More)

The Fair Co-Ed, the 1927 Sam Wood silent women's college basketball sports romantic comedy (Davies is a champion female basketball player, but she has no interest in playing it until she meets the handsome coach, and then she joins the team, but after the coach and her have a misunderstanding, she skips a game, and they lose, and everyone hates her, but then she returns for the championship game, and scores the winning basket in the final moments, and everybody loves her, including the coach!) starring Marion Davies (who also produced this movie), Johnny Mack Brown, Jane Winton, Thelma Hill, Lilliam Leighton, and Gene Stone. Note that while there were lots of baseball movies in the 1910s and 1920s (and there had been a few football movies in the 1920s as well), it took until 1927 before basketball gained enough of a following to where they made a movie about it, and two were released, just one week apart! One was called "High School Hero", followed by this movie (and then the next true basketball movies we know of were just a few in the very late 1930s, and then not again until the late 1940s).
