She was one of the first actresses of color to achieve success in mainstream sound movies! Some of her movies include: The Sound & the Fury, Cabin in the Sky, The Heart is a Rebel, Pinky (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), Gift of Gab, Rufus Jones for President, and On with the Show! Ethel passed away in 1977 at the age of 80. Important Added Info: Note that this playbill has been personally autographed (signed) by Ethel Waters! Our consignor is a longtime dealer who acquired this signed item among many other purchases in his inventory, and he does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we believe the signature to likely be authentic.
