An Original Vintage Folded World War II Poster (measures 28 1/2" x 40" [72 x 102 cm]) (Learn More) The United Nations Fight For Freedom, the 1942 U.S. World War II (WWII) poster featuring S. Broder artwork of the Statue of Liberty and many international flags, including the United States, Great Britain, Soviet Russia, China, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Costa Rica, Cuba, Czechoslovakia, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Greece, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, India, Luxembourg, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Panama, the Philippines, Poland, South Africa, and Yugoslavia. Note that two different versions of this poster were created in 1942. One has a light background with a large full-length Lady Liberty with 26 flags, and the other has a dark background with a head and arm of Lady Liberty down the left side with 30 flags. Artist: S. Broder Important Added Info: Note that two different versions of this poster were created in 1942. One has a light background with a large full-length Lady Liberty behind the flags (and there are 26 flags on this version), and the other has a dark background with a head and arm of Lady Liberty down the left side (and there are 30 flags on this version). It seems likely that four more countries joined the U.N. after the first poster was created, and that was why they made a second version. Note that this is one of a remarkable group of around 100 guaranteed authentic mostly war posters (around 75 war posters, plus 25 others, including political ones) mostly dating from before 1900 through 1945, with 15 from after that date! These were originally acquired by an archive decades ago, and they have been in storage ever since, until they were recently consigned to us. Many of these are the sorts of posters that you can find reproductions of on the Internet, but finding guaranteed originals like these is incredibly difficult (years can go by before these are offered for sale or at auction). This is a very rare opportunity to purchase any of these more than 100 posters! Note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: very good. There is a 1" tear near the center of the top border and 1" of separation and a tiny tear at the left end of the top fold. There are two tiny tears in the bottom border. Otherwise, the poster is in nice condition, especially considering its age. Learn More about condition grades
