An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Style A One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) A New Screen Song Cartoon in Color, the 1940s Paramount stock poster ("Follow the bouncing ball for laughs and melody") used by theaters when showing Screen Song animated cartoon musical shorts (the "bouncing ball" would appear on the screen as the lyrics were shown, and they would tell the audience where in the lyrics they were supposed to be singing, and they were extremely popular for many years.) The poster has a blank area at the bottom where the specific title of the film being shown could be overprinted or a snipe applied. Note that Screen Song started in 1929 when they were produced by Fleischer Studios and the series switched to color animation in 1945 when Famous Studios took over. If anyone knows more about these shorts, please e-mail us and we will post it here. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had minor wear on the folds and in the borders. Overall, the poster was in very good to fine condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! At some point after it was backed, it acquired water staining in the top center that caused the poster to ripple in the center of the top blue background area and in the top blank border, and created a stain in the center of the excess linen. The poster could be framed and enjoyed as it is, or a restorer could certainly repair the water damaged area, likely by re-backing the poster. Learn More about condition grades
