An Original Vintage Unfolded World War I Poster (measures 28" x 40" [71 x 102 cm]) (Learn More) Be a U.S. Marine, the 1918 U.S. World War I (WWI) Marine Corps recruiting poster ("First in the Fight - Always Faithful") featuring James Montgomery Flagg art of a Marine holding a pistol against the backdrop of the U.S. flag. Note that there are at least two versions of this poster. There is one with a tagline above the title and one with solely the title. But there are also different sizes of this poster (not surprising because this would have been printed multiple times even in 1918, and probably printed again multiple times in the next few years) The Library of Congress calls the tagline version "1922?", but it calls the version without the tagline a "1918?" poster, so we can't date any example of this poster precisely, but they surely date from between the time the U.S. entered World War I to the first few years after World War I ended. The poster was never folded. It was in a frame and the back of the poster darkened, but it fortunately did not affect the front.
