An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" Movie Still (Learn More) Bela Lugosi was one of the top two horror actors from the 1930s (along with Boris Karloff) in movies such as Dracula, Island of Lost Souls, The Wolf Man, The Body Snatcher, and the Black Cat. His portrayal of Dracula was so memorable, that it caused movie makers to only want him to play similar roles, and in the minds of many horror fans, there is no other Dracula BUT Bela Lugosi! Note that Mr. Lugosi was born in what was then Austria-Hungary, but is now Romania. He passed away in 1956 at the age of 73. Important Added Info: Note that this still APPEARS to have been personally autographed (signed) by Bela Lugosi, but we have no way of verifying the autograph and neither does our consignor, and it is possible that someone just wrote it there. But it is definitely a vintage 1931 still from Dracula, so we are auctioning it as a still that has Lugosi's name written on it, and we in no way suggest it was written by Lugosi! Note that this item was consigned to us by an individual who owned a company that made movies and videos with famous celebrities in the 1980s and 1990s. The owner of the company would have the celebrities sign items from their famous films, and sometimes he would find second or third celebrities to autograph an item he already had gotten signed! In addition, he would ask celebrities he came in contact with if they had signed items from other stars that they would sell to him, and he purchased a number of items that way. He also would purchase unsigned items from the famed Larry Edmunds Bookshop in Los Angeles (to have the celebrities sign), and while he was doing that he would also purchase some of their signed items. So all of these autographed items we are auctioning were either obtained in person, obtained from celebrities who obtained them in person, or obtained from the Larry Edmunds Bookshop, and we feel certain that the autograph(s) on this item is authentic! Condition: good. Someone wrote "Bela Lugosi" in the upper right background (we do NOT believe it is signed; see above). There are a few fine pen or pencil marks in Lugosi's face. There is a thin strip of cloth tape down the back of the left border. The bottom right blank corner was completely detached at one time and someone re-attached it with white tape from the back. There is a tiny tear in the upper right blank border and a jagged 3/4" tear in the lower right border. There is slight uneven discoloration and a few faint smudges and stains in parts of the image. There is tiny paper loss and a few creases in the top right corner. Learn More about condition grades
