eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 6g0627 WAY FOR A SAILOR WC 1930 art of Leila Hyams, John Gilbert & Wallace Beery, ultra rare! Date Sold 10/29/2020Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Movie Window Card (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More) Way For a Sailor, the 1930 Sam Wood Navy Naval romantic sailing melodrama ("Metro-Goldwyn Mayer All Talking Picture"; "From the book by Albert Richard Wetjen") starring John Gilbert, Wallace Beery, Jim Tully, Leila Hyams, and Polly Moran. Note that this John Gilbert sound movie, like all his sound movies, completely dispels the myth that he had a high-pitched speaking voice, which ended his career! Actually, he had a fine speaking voice, and there is much speculation as to what it was that actually ended his career, and that can be found in various places on the Internet, but it was definitely not his voice! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a lobby card, a glass slide, and two stills from this movie, and NO other movie paper until we received this window card! Also note that the card measures very slightly under 14" x 22" (an extremely tiny amount in each direction!) and has no left, right, or bottom blank borders, but it has NOT been trimmed (this was done at a time when MGM was experimenting with having as few borders as possible). Condition: good to very good. Learn More about condition grades
